Nature's Kaleidoscope Camps

One week camps featuring activities including nature walks, games, crafts and much more. Each week has a different theme.

Ages: 7-12
Dates: Tuesday - Friday
     June 12-15 – Colors in Nature
     June 19-22 – Junior Master Gardeners
     June 26-29 – Trackers
     July 10-13 – Scavenger Hunt
     July 17-20 – Flying Wild
     July 24-27 – Into the Wild
Time: 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Fee: $40.00 per weekly session for each participant
Reservation: Register in advance online at http://parks.mcallen.net or in person at Lark and Palm View Community Centers

Thursday Evening Explorations - Family Speaker Series

Enjoy nature talks and walks. Early evenings are a great time to explore nature.

Dates: Thursdays
Time: Evenings - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Fee: $3.00 per person
Reservation: No reservation required

Artists of the Forest

Children will draw inspiration from their natural surroundings and create take-home projects. Each Saturday will feature a different theme and art project.

Agess: 7 - 13
Dates: Saturdays, June 16 - July 28 (No class on July 7)
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5.00 per person
Reservation: No advance registration required. Call in advance if bringing a large group.

Environmental Group Programs for Youths

Ages: Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade curriculum-based programs

Girl Scout Badge Programs

Ages: Programs designed for Brownies and Girl Scouts
Time: 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Fee: $5.00 per scout
Reservation: Required of troop in advance for proper scheduling.

Guided Field Trips

Stroll Through History Tour

Enjoy a stroll through the historic home and grounds at Quinta Mazatlan with an interpretive presentation including the home's history, Spanish architecture, history of the families, art gallery, and an introduction to the nature trails.
Fee: $3.00 per person
Reservation: Call to make a reservation and customize a tour for your group.

Woodland Walkabout Tour

Enjoy an interpretive presentation on the trails surrounding the historic adobe mansion. An easy quarter of a mile walk will feature the flora and fauna for the area.
